Guest guest
I am new to this forum, so as to introduce myself, I would like to post a question: Some years ago, before I studied TCM, I was treated at the Yo San College in Los Angeles. At that time, I was overweight, and suffering from what I now know to be Spleen Qi Deficiency w/ Liver Qi stagnation and Damp. I received weekly acupuncture, as well as loose herbs. After 5-6 weeks, I had lost 20-30 pounds of body fat, felt great, and the weight pretty much stayed off. Since that time, as both student and practitioner, I have yet to see that level of success in the treament of excess body fat/adipose tissue, especially around the waste (spare tire), and hips in women. Granted, I am pretty sure Ma Huang was included in my formulas, but I would really like to know, what formulas or herb combos work best to reduce fat around the waste line and hips. I have tried modifications of all the classic formulas iwth little to no success in terms of significant weight loss. I have several patients, all Spleen Qi deficient with Liver Excess as their core diagnosis. Any help/insights most welcome. Thank you. Guest guest
Glad to hear of your success in weight loss. Often times, especially with women and especially towards middle age, the waist line and hips are particularly prone to weight gain. Although spleen Qi is often a major cause, other factors of the kidney can come into play. I don't know if this is the case with you patients or not but I would look at this as well.
