Guest guest
I am currently treating a patient for a hernia and am interested in finding some literature about hernias written in English. Does anyone have any sources? Currently, he is taking a modified Bu Zhong Yi Qi Tang (w/ Wu Yao and Xiao Hui Xiang) as his hernia gets worse with fatigue, he's tired a lot, etc. He no longer needs to wear a truss to keep the hernia in and there is no longer any pain with the hernia, but I am not sure what type of result to expect and how long he should remain on herbs, etc. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Guest guest
In the book of Jin Gui Yao Lue by ZHANG, Zhong-jing, it discusses both diseases and patterns. In chapter 10, it covers cold mounting (heria)disease. It may or may not be perfectly matched with the case this thread addresses but it provides some insights regarding its pathomechanism, etiology, pattern, and treatment in one single statement and there are more. Here is my translation version (17) Abdominal pain with a pulse that is wiry and tight; a wiry pulse causes the disorder of wei qi leading to aversion to cold; a tight pulse causes inability to eat. The right [qi] battling the evil [qi] causes cold mounting. Cold mounting is marked by pain around the umbilicus. If triggered, there is white sweat [1], reversal cold in four limbs, and a sunken and tight pulse. Large Aconite Main Tuber Brew (da wu.tou jian) governs. ANALYSIS This statement discusses the pathomechanism and treatment of cold mounting. It can be understood by two parts. The first part discusses the pathomechanism and the second part describes the pattern and treatment. .... I can paste the rest if members here interested. As the thread did not provide sufficient data, i cannot come up with diagnosis here. It is a shame because some members write really long details and put up lots of time here. My 2 cents, Dr sung, yuk-ming
