Hello All!

I am writing you to get some advice on a maternity leave that I will

be taking in the later part of November through December. I am

currently 7 and half months pregnant and have a busy 3-4 day a week

practice. I Was hoping some of you could give me feedback on what you

have done to maintain your practices while gone. I am looking into a

temp acupuncturist to help me out during this time. I have a couple

referrals and I am currently practicing in Alameda, CA. I was

wondering what is the going hourly rate to have someone come in and

treat my patients for me while I am away? Also I am considering a

percentage deal that could also work out as well. People have told me

60/40 and 50/50 are the percentages that I should consider. Anyways,

any suggestions would be great!

Thank you,

I would look at the percentage of your overhead that you have to cover

anyway and price your replacements accordingly. Make it very

attractive financially for them to the point of breaking even

yourself. Last thing you want is to deal with problems during this time.

There is little incentive for someone to step in for 2 months. Make it

worth their while. Come back to a good situation.
