Guest guest
Dear Group, I hesitate to post this note, but I told my patient I would..... She has a brother dying of liver cancer and she is searching the internet (grasping for straws) for something to help him. She asked me about the Tian Xian products, which I have never heard of. Most of the info available is from marketers of the product. I did find one brief mention on the Sloan-Kettering site. Any and all opinions welcome. Jean Dombroski, L.Ac. Guest guest
Tian Xian is the product name, Heavenly Saint is an approximate translation. These are the ingredients as listed in one web site... I put in a few of the pinyin names off the top of my head here. Apparently this has been advertised in the Chinese American community, for " immunity " for some time. Doug * Cordyceps Dong Chong Xia Cao(caterpillar mushroom) * Astragalus - Huang Qi * Ganoderma lucidum Ling Zhi (or reishi mushroom) * Panax ginseng root - Ren Shen * White Atractylodes Rhizome Bai Zhu (Atractylodes macrocephalae rhizoma) * Batatatis Rhizoma (Dloscorea batatas) * Codonopsis Root- Dang shen (Codonopsis pilosula) * Patchouli Leaves - Hu Xiong (Pogostemon cablin) * Barbary Wolfberry Fruit gou qi Zi(Lycium barbarum) * Pearl Powder Zhen Zhu Mu (Margarita) * Glossy Privet Fruit (Ligustrum lucidum AIT) * Licorice Root Gan Cao (Radix glycyrrhizae) , " Jean " <greypal wrote: > > Dear Group, > I hesitate to post this note, but I told my patient I would..... > > She has a brother dying of liver cancer and she is > searching the internet (grasping for straws) for something > to help him. > > She asked me about the Tian Xian products, which I have > never heard of. > > Most of the info available is from marketers of the product. > I did find one brief mention on the Sloan-Kettering site. > > Any and all opinions welcome. > Jean Dombroski, L.Ac. >

Guest guest
I wouldn't go about making a ready made patent for cancer patients but if I were, this one wouldn't be bad. What it is doing is boosting the Zheng Qi, immunity, resistance in the Western equivalence. All the right herbs are there to do so. If someone could show some studies I would be interested. The trouble is I don't know the state of the patient here. I'm assuming he is at the end of life stage. Chances of ridding the cancer are extremely slim. Tonifying Zheng hopefully could improve the quality of life as well as prolong life somewhat. If the patient just got a diagnosis and in other ways was relatively healthy then there may be more wiggle room to address particulars. That's my conversational opinion. Guest guest
Thank you again Doug. I don't know any of the details of this gentleman other than he has " liver cancer " and has been admitted to hospice. I don't know the particulars of his health history or current state. His sister is my patient and she asked me about this formula. It's very expensive, so I want them to have good information on expectations, as you mentioned, about quality of life for his remaining days vs dealing with the cancer. I appreciate the time you took to answer my questions. Best, Jean > I wouldn't go about making a ready made patent for cancer patients but > if I were, this one wouldn't be bad. Guest guest
Hi Jean: As a hepatitis and liver expert, I would be very cautious with recommending herbs for someone with liver disease or any type of cancer without a full Chinese diagnosis and a full Western diagnosis. I treat people with liver cancer with Chinese herbs along with their Western physicians the Western treatment they are receiving. We create specific formulas according their combined diagnoses as well as current lab tests and condition. Many of the herbs in this formula are in the formulas I use - however, there are often more specific Clear Heat Clean Toxin herbs along with Xue regulating herbs (depending on the diagnoses of course). I am skeptical about generic formulas sold over the Internet without this being done. And, the pricing should be commensurate with the quality - quality control is very important and you should be able to ask for certificates of analysis (COA) from any reputable practitioner-based company. I wish you the best with this situation -- I know it can be very difficult as I am sure you really want to help this person..... Guest guest
Dear Misha, Thank you for your reply. I am in complete agreement with you about not " recommending " herbs w/o a complete in-person evaluation. I was simply carrying out a request of my patient to learn more about the formula. As you must know, one becomes more desparate for relief as time goes on, my patient and her brother are at this point. Unfortunately, there are many claims made that are very encouraging to the discouraged. Thank you again for your input.
