Guest guest
Hi Jason, The following is for fibroids, NOT for stopping bleeding. I was taught that ba yue zha is specific for concretions, conglomerations, accumulations and binding. I have found it quite helpful when combined with appropriate herbs based on the presenting patterns. With Leonorus cardiaca (aka motherwort) (you can substitute yi mu cao here, but I find the Western species better....probably mostly because the quality is so much higher...they have nearly the exact same functions and indications) and yujin for qi depression and blood stasis (generally found together here), with Galium aperine (aka cleavers) and zhishi for qi depression and phlegm accumulation (again, generally found together). When both these groups of patterns are present (often) I also add Ceanothus sp. (I often use this for either of these pattern groups, but it is great when they are both present). xiang fu almost always is found in these formulas as are some of the fungi including but not limited to fu ling, Tremetes versicolor (turkey tails), etc. and sometimes chai hu.....it is all case dependent...of course! I personally have not the found the " seaweeds " to be that effective. That being said I almost always recommend regular dietary intake of seaweeds (from clean sources). So, what are the medicinals that you find to be such " better choices? " I am always ready to learn how to treat these cases, or any cases, better. Thanks for your input.
