Hi All,

Can anyone recommend a Western herbal supplier, preferably on the west

coast? Organic would be nice if its not to much $$$.

Thank you,

These two are top-notch; California and Oregon respectively. The latter was

Co-Op America's " People's Choice " for Green Business of the Year in 2008.

David,

Pacific Botanicals seems to carry some of the better Western herbs I've

seen in commerce and most of their herbs are organically grown.

Another company I know of, and happen to run, carries a couple hundred or so

Western herbs in bulk tincture including a lot of harder to find wildcrafted

stuff. Contact me offline and/or check out our inventory at

www.fiveflavorsherbs.com (in need of an update). I'd also be happy to direct you

to some other preferable sources for specific things you may be looking for if

you contact me.

Best,

I have been using Mountain Rose for about two years, the quality is

good and I like the ability to buy in units of 4 oz, 8 oz and 16 oz.

Also, the service has been good and the web ordering process pretty easy.

And now I will check out Pacific botanicals and starwest.

Dave,

Ben's company is excellent, he's a good friend of mine and an

excellent medicine maker. Bill is absolutely right, don't waste your

time and money tincturing an extract, just make tinctures with whole

herbs.

Ben,

Pacific Botanicals used to be the best, I'm not so sure about that

now. Mark has changed the company into a money making machine, with a

major shake-up in management (firing long-time dedicated employees)

and (I hear) the quality has suffered in the process. I would be

interested to hear about a comparison between them and Mountain Rose,

who I only have a little experience with, but they have a good

reputation and seem to have a great root ethic...

Bill, you know anything about this?

Thanks for the props Thomas.

What we are able to get from Pacific Botanicals that these other companies

(mountain rose, etc.) don't offer to my knowledge is fresh plants shipped

direct. The shipping prices are usually a little absurd. Our staff organoleptic

analysts and customers are still in agreement that fresh plant material makes

better medicine.
