There is controversy in Chinese textbook sources as to the TEMPERATURE of Fm Eucalypti globuli. Most call it Cold / Cool but some sources say Warm; LATIN NAME: Fm Eucalypti globuli / robustae ENGLISH NAMES: Eucalyptus Fm; Tasmanian Bluegum Fm; Parts used: Fm mainly but Cx / Rx (Lan´angenpi) + Fl also used; Oil distilled from Fm; PINYIN NAMES: Anshuye; Daye'anye; Anye; Huiyangliu; Huiye´an; Lan´an; Lan´anye; Lanyoumu; Xiaoqiu´anshu; Xiaoqiuhetao; Yangcaoguoshu; Yangcaoguotao; Yangcaoguoye; Yushu HERB CLASS: Release Exterior~ Acrid + Cool ACTIVE AGENTS: Fm has 0.9-2.9% volatile Oil, mainly 1, 8-cineole, pinene, Orange triazene, litter aldehydes, alcohols + pine carvone 1 - acetyl -4 - such as isopropylidene cyclopentene; Also Rutin, quercetin glycosides, quercetin; Fl also has volatile Oil w similar composition as Fm Oil; Cx has tannin; Hb also has tar w Guaiacol TEMP & NATURE: Cold / Cool but some sources say Warm; Non-TOXIC (at normal doses); Acrid; Bitter CHANNELS: LU; SJM-SP-ST; LV DOSE: Oral (as Infusion): fresh Fm: 6-24g / d; dried Fm (as Infusion): 1-2g / cup TID; Fm tincture (for congestion): 10-30 drops / d; As Topical: make Infusion as wash / grind to powder & sprinkle on affected area / adjust & apply as spread / ointment / macerate & apply / use Anyeyou spread as Infusion / simmer Infusion to thick paste (Aogao) + apply; steam from Fm Infusion (5-10g dried Fm / cup boiling water; place towel over head & inhale steam) can be inhaled but steam from Anyeyou Infusion may be better for inhalation; MAIN ACTIONS: (1) Release Exterior~ Acrid + Cool; Dispel Wind & Release Exterior (Shufeng Jiebiao; Qufeng Jiebiao); Release Heat + Toxin (sores, ulcers + abscesses w swelling dt Toxin (Chuangyong Zhongdu), erysipelas); Release Heat + Dispel Wind + Dispel Damp (eczema, mange / scabies); pertussis (Bairike); epigastrium & abdomen distension & pain (Wanfu Zhangtong); diarrhoea, dysentery (Liji), enteritis, hookworm disease; BL diseases, cystitis; Wind Damp (rheumatic) pain (Fengshitong); arthralgia; bone-setter injury; burns / scald injury (Tangshang), carbuncle / abscesses / sores w swelling dt Toxin (Yongchuang Zhongdu); erysipelas; Heat Furuncles / acne (Rejie); eczema, neurodermatitis (Shenjingxing Piyan), scabies / mange (Jiexuan); many more indications ... see Combinations (below) COMBINATIONS: (1) to Tx / Px Ganmao / flu (Yufang Ganmao) & Tx dysentery (Zhiliao Liji), use Infusion orally; for bacillary dysentery (Xijunxing Liji):: use of 15% Lan´anye Tangjian (Syrup) 100ml / d for 4-6d as retention enema (Baoliu Guanchong) / use oral Anye Tangjian (Syrup) , 40ml TID for 10d / course; expect recovery in 3-5 days; for common diarrhoea (Yiban Fuxie): use Anshuye washed, sundried & ground to powder (Xijing Shaigan Yanfen), 1g / dose QID; reduce dose appropriately for children (Xiao'er Zhuojian); to Ease Pain for severe acute abdomen pain (Ruyu Zhongzheng Futong Juliezhe), add Baishao, Gancao, Muxiang; for scabies / mange (Jiexuan): Anshuye boiled in water as Topical wash (Jianshuixi); for skin eczema (Pifuyan): Anshuye qs, as Infusion, simmered down to paste as Topical ointment; for neurodermatitis, carbuncle / abscesses / sores w swelling dt Toxin, leprous ulcers: Anshuye QS, make Infusion as Topical wash / use Anshuye Aogao as Topical ointment; for erysipelas (Dandu) + other infectious disease w sepsis (Ranxing Huanongzheng): use Infusion as Topical wash; to Px measles (Yufang Mazhen) in children exposed to infected children: use Anshuye 60Jin, water 350Jin, simmer down to 150Jin; 3- 12 months of age, 15ml / dose; 2-4-year-olds30ml / dose; 5 years+ 45- 60ml; dose TID for 9d; (2) for enteritis (Changyan) + BL disorders (Pangguang Jihuan), Relin (Heat Strangury), enteritis + diarrhoea / dysentery: Anshuye, Machixian, Dijincao, Chaye; make Infusion + serve; for cystitis, haematuria w dysuria (Xiaobian Xiaxue Tengtong; Lit: urine w nether Xue + ache / pain [on urination] : Anshuye, Shiwei, Haijinsha; make Infusion + serve; (3) for scalds + burns, External Injury w bleeding (Waishang Chuxue): Anshuye ground to powder (Yanfen) + sprinkled on damaged area (Sa Shangbu); for arthralgia (Guanjie Tengtong): Anshuye, Xiangtong, Songjie, Gusuibu; make Infusion & use as Topical; to Tx postsurgical arthralgia (Zhi Waike Shoushuhou Guanjietong), use macerated Fm as Topical Compress (Guaibao); (4) for epidemic cerebral meningitis (Liunao), flu (Liugan), hookworm disease (Gouchongbing): Anshuye 9g; make Infusion & take orally BID; for hookworm disease in 7-20 year olds: Anshuye (half-dried in shade) each time 30g; macerate & add water to submerge pulp; simmer slowly for 3 hours until 50-60ml of concentrate remains; filter & take once before food & use no other laxatives (Bujia Xieji); Tx for 15d (60% success - negative faecal egg test); some patients get headache & abdominal discomfort, but that usually disappears by next morning; for parotitis (Saixianyan) & conjunctivitis (Jiemoyan): Anye / Heshuye 9-15g; make Infusion & use (?? as Topical wash); for respiratory system diseases, especially upper respiratory tract infection, Infusion of Fm + Anyeyou can be used as inhalants; Patients w asthma / chronic bronchial expectorant effects after oral use, can be inhaled; inhalation also helps in LU TB CAUTIONS: Anyeyou (Oil) / Anye (Fm) is TOXIC at oral high doses; before internal use, dilute Anyeyou & check its dose; Fm tannins may cause ST upset / KI & LV damage if large doses of Fm are ingested; Oil / Fm are Non-TOXIC as Topical in small doses but some people may be allergic to them; CI: use of Anyeyou is CI on face / nose of child <2 years of age; AVOID in pregnancy / lactation; AVOID in nephritis / gastroenteritis, cholecystitis / bile duct inflammatory disease, LV disease / hypertension;
