Guest guest
What is the significance of a blood platelet count that has been going up steadily? The patient's rheumatologist requires periodic bloodwork because of the medications she takes for RA. Patient gets acupuncture and herbal treatment. Frances Gander, L.Ac. The major target organ for this disease is the joint. There, enhanced local inflammation occurs, involving blood cells including neutrophils and macrophages. These cells also stimulate the production of platelet activating factor, which in turn causes accumulation of blood platelets, allowing them to also participate in the inflammatory reaction. Platelets are elevated not only in RA, but also in other similar inflammatory conditions. " Also this situation is also seen periodically in chronic fatigue patients which leads to " sticky " blood. dr.w
