Guest guest
Andrea, Did you ask the Board about herbs only? For acupuncture you would need tongue and pulse, but if no acupuncture is involved, what then? Before I was licensed I did western herbal consultations and I asked for pictures of the top and underside of the tongue and the face and asked that they get a blood pressure reading and pulse rate, which at least helped me assess rate. And I asked them to include recent blood work if they had it. (I usually suggested they find local practitioners first, but some had no one nearby.) Karen S. Guest guest
Hi All, Online history-taking can be most helpful to give an initial impression of the patient & problems. This can allow a short-list of possibilities to be assessed BEFORE the clinician sees / examines the patient. The short-list can be used or changed according to the clinical exam. Online history-taking also can save some routine questioning-time in the clinic. However, " online consultation " is a different matter entirely. It I regard it as unethical in most cases unless it is followed up with standard clinical consultation and examination. Vets here could be struck off the register if we offered " online consultation " (without a physical exam) as the sole basis of prescribing treatment. Best regards,
Guest guest
Karen, No, I asked them about doing consultations in general. In California, our license includes required proficiency in herbal medicine and acupuncture, so their response addressed all aspects of what my license covers. I know some states require only acupuncture study for licensure. I use tongue and pulse assessment in all my treatment decisions.
