Guest guest
Could someone clarify this for me especially those that are close to the PMPH? One of my students mentioned that she had gone to a Shang Han Lun seminar and looked at a book by Huang Huang on the 10 SHL constitutional types. She said it was published by the PMPH. This is the only book I can find that might fit that description and it isn't printed yet accrding to Redwing. Zhang Zhong-jing's Clinical Application 50 Medicinals by Huang Huang / Traditional ; Hardcover book / $49.95 Are we taliking about the same book? Also, the second Edition of Formulas and Strategies is now out and taking orders. From the PDF at the Eastland Press site it looks as good as one would expect. Guest guest
Hi Doug - The book you mention below by Dr. Huang on the clinical application of 50 Medicinals is the only one PMPH has out currently. Although it isn't the 10 SHL Constitutional types, he does comment on the body/personality type to look for with each of the 50 herbs. It's a pretty good book actually. Guest guest
It seems Redwing can't ship it right away. Did you get yours at a seminar or one of the traveling PMPH shows? Guest guest
Hi Doug - I got my copy at this last year's AAAOM Conference. PMPH had a booth with a lot of their books for sale. I would imagine that they will be at the upcoming AAAOM Conference this April in Sacramento. If you can't attend, you might be able to ask a friend to grab a copy for you there (with the conference discount!). I would grab one for you but I can't go this year. Guest guest
Hello Doug I am the translator of " The Ten Key Formula Families, " it is indeed a different book from that which was published by PMPH. It is being published by Eastland Press, and should be out sometime next month. To stay up to date with news about the actual publication date, read more about the use of " jing fang " in general, or download a little eBook I recently put together that outlines the constitutional types, you can visit www.classicformulas.com. Guest guest
Very cool. I'll be looking forward to it of course. I think may have been to a 10 constitutional types lecture and gotten the PMPH book and mixed the two. I'll take a look at the ebook as well. good work. I notice that Volker Scheid is listed first on the new Formulas. Perhaps we should give Bensky a rest and refer to it as the " Scheid Formulas Book " ? Guest guest
Hello Doug and Ray, Thanks for your interest and comments on the Huang Huang books. Doug, The " Zhang Zhong-jing's Clinical Application 50 Medicinals " book is not the exact one you're looking for, but it does seem like a worthwhile read, from what I've heard. The book you're looking for is not yet printed, but my coworker says it should be out by this winter. Check with our website periodically for new TCM titles. http://www.pmph.com/en/downloads.aspx Best regards, Mei Li L.Ac., M.S.T.O.M.
