Guest guest
I have a 55 year old woman, obese, Spleen qi and Kidney xu, gallbladder removed, who periodically manifests a long, firm horizontally striped stool. The top part is greenish brown and the bottom is clay colored. Usually has normal color, and soft to normal firmness, two to three times daily, but occasionally if she is eating primarily vegetarian food she will have clay colored stools for a day or two. No gas or other digestive upset. Tends towards dampness. Any explanation or textual references? Karen S. Guest guest
The clay colored stool may be secondary to the gall bladder removal. You can call it dampness. Others call it steatorrhea<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steatorrhea> .. Guest guest
Hi Karen Clay colored stool is one warning sign of pancreatic cancer. Without alarming the patient, I would suggest you encourage her to see a GI specialist to rule out anything serious.
