reptans, Anthemis nobilis, Astragalus spp., Atropa belladonna, Catharanthus

roseus, Datura spp., Duboisia species, Fagopyrum spp., Glycyrrhiza uralensis,

Lobelia spp., Papaver somniferum, Panax ginseng, Peganum harmala, Perezia spp.,

The above book was published ten years ago.  I wonder how much " progress " in

engineering medicinal plants has been made in the past ten years?  Like

genetically engineered crops, genetically engineered medicinal herbs

place entire species at risk for contamination with foreign DNA.  Because

contamination is inevitable, the production of genetically engineered plants is

incompatible with the maintenance of the original species through traditional

propagation methods.

Increasingly, I realize the extreme critical importance and priority of

developing sustainable cultivation of medicinal plants.  But even with this, we

can not afford to remain silent about genetic engineering.

best regards,

Gena
