" Stay Away from GM Medicinal Plants " , an article from the above website.  Opens

with concern for the governmental grant given to Jamia Handard (the institution

that houses the Centre for Transgenic Plant Development and conducted the

research on Qing hao that I sent you.)  Please read this!

So India is funding transgenic medicinal plant development (as are other

countries; this is by no means limited to India).  A new pharmacognosy journal,

affiliated with Inpharm Association (pharmaceutical association in India) is

featuring an issue on Chinese herbal plants and their editor has recently joined

the traditional chinese herbs and is reading this email.  They are not

interested in practicing Chinese medicine.  They're pharmacists involved in drug

development and today that means the development of transgenic GMOs and they

would like to know more about the plants we use.

Even when a medicinal plant is not the express object of genetic manipulation,

GM forest plantations are destroying the very habitat where these medicinal

plants grow.

As in India, GM crops in the United States are unregulated.   And we (the United

States) have refused to sign the International Cartagena Protocol for Biosafety

Genetically engineered medicinal plants.  It concerns us.  It's about us. We

need to be informed about what's going on so we can be advocates for our

medicine.   If we wait until all these genomes are deconstructed, it will be too

late.

What else needs to be said to connect the dots?

best,

Gena
