Guest guest
Hi, I have put together a couple of ideas about this condition in general -and invite to open discussion to help in selecting whatever applies for this particular case: Posible Patterns: yin deficiency with dryness,Heat and Dampness -as in Diabetes,Obstruction of Qi, of Blood. Organs affected:Kidneys (essence dried up), Liver,Lungs, Spleen, Stomach It could be a part of : Aging Excesses Foods -fatty (causes internal heat),greasy, pungent, sweet foods(causes fullness in the MB) Drinks- alcohol, liq, hot drinks (causes internal heat) Stress, fatigue, work overload Emotional disturbance (anger, frustration, resentment=Liver Fire=Heat consumes yin of LU and ST),overthinking (SPL),or a constitution that is yin deficient. Chronic diseases Adrenal imbalance, B vitamins deficiency, Poor Circulation , Diabetes, GB problems, Heavy metals toxicity (Aluminium more likely), Kidney condition, Liver (clogged), Lupus, Metabolic Syndrome, MS, Prostaglandin deficiency, Spinal pinch. 1.peripheral neuropathy=mild nerve degeneration =burning, itching, numbness, pain, tingling=reduced blood flow=>reduced oxygen. Sedentary life? Need Walks in fresh air, breathing.... 2.pH too ACID (blood, diet, urine, saliva) -The Phosphorus binds Mg -which helps relieve those type of pains. Need -a day of Lichid fast to Balance the pH. Change of Diet -Emphasis on Greens, Alcaline.... 3.Dehydration? Electrical Impulses and Nutrients transport impeded 4.Asimilation depleated-Elimination incomplete -Lymph,Liver,Pancreas,Spleen Herbs I've found in various sources: Fresh bruised herb Robert ,Lady Bedstraw,Dwarf Elder (sambucus ebulus),Clay,Mugwort,Thornapple (datura stramonium),Wallflower. Combo:Blessed Thistle,Lavander,Lemon balm,Peppermint,Valerian,St,John's wort. ..................................... American ginseng Astragalus Ashwaganda Bitter melon /gourd (momordica charantia) Boswellia serrata Carthamus Catnip (vague pains) Chamomille (nervine) Cornus Equilibrium Fenugreek Garlic Ginkgo biloba Gotu Kola Ginseng (Panax ginseng) Gymnema sylvestre Horsetail /shave grass Lobelia Infl. leaf Lotus embryo /stamen Mulberry Onion Passion flower Peppermint Pterocarpus Rehmannia /Gypsum /anemarrhena (for KDyid,LVyid) Reishi Mushroom Rosemary (nervine) Sage Salia Salcia oblonga Salt Bush (Atriplex halimu) Scrophularia Scullcap Shou-wu Tortoise shell Tulsi White Willow Aztec Matarique Salvado Wheat Bran FOODS (some are meant for Diabetes but could apply) EAT small meals often- every 2 hours,Do not Skip meals, chew well and STOP eating before going to bed (go to bed early- so the body has time to Repair -12 hours active, 12 hours for rest and repair) Eat proteins at each meal (beans, chicken, eggs, fish, nuts, seeds) DRINK WATER -taken first in the morning -get up early, (detox happens then),rinse mouth with water, drink 2 glasses and Move around, exercise would be ideal, drink water again (4glasses),drink water with Lemon or Cucumber, drink vegg juice afterwards (tomatoes, gourd),eat sprouts (1/2pound)(lentils,cheekpeas),almonds,ground nuts, fresh coconut,dates... Potassium broth GREENS cooked and raw, soups SPROUTS (enzymes for carbs, fats, protein digestion) NUTS SEEDS FIBER Fruits (not fruit juices) could have them in the evening and- gradually the sweet ones (dates,mango,papaya..) Sulfur foods (celery, lettuce, cucumber, oat bran) Yogurt (not for dinner) ACV (apple cider vinegar) to some foods (it will slow down carbs release) cinnamon (it mimics insulin) Use Barley,Brown rice,Buckwheat,Oats,Millet,Rye REDUCE Overeating Tea (black) Root vegetables (exception carrots,beets)- they contain less fiber and more carbs, reduce spices, sweets, salt Red meats Reduce some Grains Starches Sweets Good: Alfa-alfa,amaranth (flour),apples(better slighly cooked with cinnamon) (pectin),artichokes(provide a type of insulin-take 3 times /wk),asparagus,avocados,beans (string),beets, broccoli, cabbage, carrots (Cayce recommendation for nerve rebuilding),celery (Cayce),chicken (breast),cinnamon (helps with the sugar cravings,a component mimics insulin, helps lower fats and " bad " cholesterol-half a teasp /d or keep a twig in the tea cup),coconut oil, coriander, curry, fenugreek, garlic (good for pancreas), ,ghee, gooseberries, honey (in limes water),lentil (soup),lettuce(Cayce),olive oil, orange (citrus peel),oysters, papaya (enzyme for protein digestion), pea (soup), pineapple (bromelain to reduce inflammation),potatoes (reduced),rice (brown), spinach, squash, stevia, tomatoes, wild cherry, wheat germ (oil) B5 in [avocados, brewer's yeast, buckwheat, grains,LEMON,calf liver, lentils, lettuce, nuts /cashew,peanuts,pecan nuts, mushrooms, oatmeal, onions, parsley, peas /split ,peppers /red chilli, pineapple, seafood (Cayce),sesame seeds, soybeans, sunflower seeds, torula (nutritional) yeast],watercress (Cayce),whole wheat (Cayce),yams Pectin from citrus rinds and from apple sauce (not the juice), helps in the assimilation of fats and oils SUPPLEMENTS Vit A, Amino Acids-free form Bee Polen Bcomplex-taken with meals B-1(thiamin is essential for normal nerve function) B3(niacin) B5(panthotenic acid 500mg), Folate <http://www.mitamins.com/library/Supp/Folic_Acid.html> assists in the maintenance of the nervous system B6 (doses of 150 mg of B6 have helped people with neuropathy, over 500mg have caused sensory neuropathy) B12 (used at the 1000 mcg dose for neuropathy) C,D,E,K(potassium) Ca,Cr ,Iodine, K(potassium),Mg (350mg/d),Mn,Phosphorus,Se (myalgia),Vanadyl sulfate,Zn Boron Bromelain Brewer's yeast CoQ10 (is produced in the mitochondria, neuropathy=mitochondrial damage) Quercitin Alpha Lipoic Acid (600mg/d -believed to protect nerve cells from damage, may break the cycle of insulin resitance) Black strap molasses Borage Oil (for Gamma Linolenic Acid content) Essential fatty acids ENZYMES (pancreatic, proteins, fats) Amylase,Lipase (carbs into sugar),Tripsin(proteins into AminoAcids) -in the pancreas Evening Primrose oil Flaxseed (may reduce inflammation and help build healthy nerves) Grape seed extract Inositol L-Carnitine Lecithin PABA Sesame seeds Taurine 500mg Wheat germ HOMEOPATHY Arsenicum A Bryonia Causticum Hypericum Perforatum Kali Bichrom 10X for neuralgias with blurred vision KP MP Nat Mur (salt) Nat P Nat S (regulates the water in the blood, gives off O2 for decomposition of sugar,so it does not get to the kidneys, reduces Lactic Acid) Phosphoric Ac Plumbum Spigelia 8X for painful headaches, seizures, pain worse on one side Thuja 10X for tearing pains Uranium Nitrate 3x Acupuncture Toning KD channel Strengthening LV Plum Blossom needling NATUROPATHIC Fume and steam baths, hot and cold Cold wash, cold Compress of clay, water, vinegar, Hot-Cold compress -by pouring water on it, Warm and room temperature submerse 5 minutes in hot, 2min in cold, alternate 3x -done on an empty stomach,1-2x/d showers and occasional colonics (Cayce) cardiovascular exercises of at least 20 minutes/d WALK 30min/d ............................ Seventy-seven patients (43%) with neuropathy reported using CAM treatments. The most frequent were megavitamins (35%), magnets (30%), acupuncture (30%), herbal remedies (22%) and chiropractic manipulation (21%); 37 (48%) tried more than one form of alternative treatment. Seventeen respondents (27%) thought their neuropathy symptoms improved with these approaches. She has multiple symptoms the worse being peripheral neuropathy, with burning pain of teeth, arms, and legs. Numbness of the left foot, poor sleep habits. No thirst, she's cold sensitive and has low thyroid. I've given her and she has done a very aggressive herbal protocol focusing on blood moving herbs and qi tonics and of course, sleep. Guest guest
Back in the late 80s or early 90s, I was involved in an NIH-granted acupuncture research protocol on AIDS-related PN. At the time, I couldn't find much about this condition in the Chinese medical literature. How times have changed! Now, almost every issue of every Chinese medical journal has an article on diabetic PN. I believe this increased interest has to do with the increasing prevalence of diabetic PN in China. In any case, all these articles (mostly RCTs) are a great source of information on the CM treatment of PN. However, because I am not personally interested in PN these days, I haven't been translating these articles. Someone who is interested in PN should. There is a true wealth of information available.
