I filled out the form. If this was the outcome I wish they had just asked us

what we felt should be on the test.

I recalculated the Western portion of the upcoming exam.

It looks more like 15+ % of the total exam, after reducing its leverage in

the " Obtaining Patient's History " (15%) subarea of Patient Assessment (33%).

Here is the breakdown:

Performing Physical exam (7% of total 14%)

Pharmacology and Supplements (3% of total 3%)

Diagnostic testing (1% of 1%)

Patient education integration east/west (4% of 4%)

Please look at the Occupational Analysis report available online

http://www.acupuncture.ca.gov/students/oareport2008.pdf

and check this with me.

The updated chart is listed below:

Doug,

Yes. I heard about the changes last year after the OA report,

but didn't think that herbs/ formulas would be reduced so much.

What was known was that Western medicine would be integrated much more

in both the testing and subsequently the training at TCM schools.

You probably brought up the curve for herbs/formulas by filling out the

survey.

It's the folks who put 1s and 2s on the herbs relevancy section that changed

the status on the exam.

The fact that acupuncturists surveyed reduced the percentage of

herbs/formulas

tested goes to show that this is a weak spot in our education at TCM

colleges.

When's the next OA survey and report due?
