Frances Gander Athens, Ohio As far as I know, your patient is mistaken that Bushen is the name of a Chinese herb. Bu is Pinyin for " Reinforce / Tone / Strengthen / Nourish " . Shen is Pinyin for Kidney, or Shen-Spirit, or Body (depending on the Chinese Shen character used. Thus, the Pinyin term Bu-shen could mean Tone KI, or Tone Shen-Spirit, or Tone Body. The Pinyin term appears Bu-shen in dozens of different Chinese formulas, about 30 of which are listed below from a cursory WWW search. Bushen Antai Tang Jiajian Bushen Guchong Tang Bushen Huayu Jiedu Fang Bushen Huiyu Tang Bushen Huoxue Fang Bushen Huoxue Tang Bushen Jiangtang Tang Bushen Jiangu Tang Bushen Kangshuai Tang Bushen Keli Bushen Shena Tang Bushen Tang Bushen Tang Jiajian Bushen Tiaogan Qingxin Fang Bushen Wan Bushen Yiqi Tang Bushen Yisui Tang Jiajian Buyin Bushen Tang Congrong Bushen Pian Congrong Bushen Wan Guilu Bushen Tang Guilu Bushen Tang Huazuo Jianpi Bushen Tang Jiangtang Bushen Fang Jianpi Bushen Yao Qingfei Bushen Tang Qinggan Bushen Tang Wuzi Bushen Tang Xiehuo Bushen Tang Yangxue Bushen Tang Zhuangyao Bushen Tang Zibu Ganshen Tang Your patient must be more specific as th WHICH " Shen " is under discussion! For example, see the three different Chinese terms for Bushen Tang [ " " OR " " OR " " ] in the Google hits at http://tinyurl.com/ylrguop Best regards,
