Guest guest
FYI: I had nummular eczema for 7 years, only in the winter, on my lower body. Tried treating it with herbs unsuccessfully. I don't know where I heard about this but I started taking Vitamin D2, 2000 IU, over a year ago. (I had my blood levels checked and they were low.) The condition has been gone since I've been on the Vit D. Since then I've heard of others successfully using Vit D for skin conditions. From the CM perspective, I could hypothesize about a condition occurring in the winter having an element of Cold (consistent with its being reddish but not very red) and sunshine might, therefore, be helpful. But, at many latitudes, especially in winter, the sun doesn't provide enough UV to produce our own D so supplementation is usually needed. More sources seem to favor D3 over D2 but I prefer D2 because it's not animal sourced. It seems to be working for me but I haven't had my levels re-checked. Guest guest
Marian, That's interesting that D2 worked as well - it's not thought to be anywhere near as effective as D3. I don't have eczema but sometimes my elbows get slightly reptilian in the winter. Lately I tried putting some Vit D oil on it (it was D3). I also in the same time frame applied Mycelized Vit A. Seemed to work rapidly. Silky smooth elbows. Of course, I'm not sure which was the effective agent or if they worked synergistically. (And I take EPA/DHA internally daily, which I feel is essential for everyone.) ann On Nov 20, 2009, at 5:10 PM, marianblum wrote: > FYI: > > I had nummular eczema for 7 years, only in the winter, on my lower > body. Guest guest
Thank you for your comment, Ann. I guess you absorbed enough D through your skin. Makes sense since it's a fat-soluble hormone. You could test whether it's 1 or both that are making the difference (or just enjoy the silky elbows for now). I didn't know about Mycelized Vit A. I'll try it since I also have dry skin. EPA-DHA has helped the dry skin somewhat but, if I recall, only SINCE I've been on the Vit D. And there are probably other factors, of course. Marian , " A. Guest guest
Al, do you remember that formula you mentioned years ago specifically for dry skin in the winter? The disease follows the autumn dry season. Diseases of the summer show in the fall etc... Doug > > > I had nummular eczema for 7 years, only in the winter, on my lower > > > body.
