Guest guest
Howdy all Is anyone aware of a resource that contains a list of herbs that might show a false positive on a standard pre-employment drug test? I think this was discussed once before here, you might check the archives. I don't think there is anything that could show a false positive with the possible exception of Huo Ma Ren, hemp seed. Even then, I'm not sure that it would show a false positive, I don't know one way or the other. Eric

Guest guest
Thank you. Huo Ma Ren and Ma Huang were the only 2 herbs I could think of as well. Your input is appreciated. Your input is appreciated. Ma Huang should be fine. Ephedrine is not an illegal drug and it isn't part of the standard " NIDA-5 " panel for drug tests. I doubt that it has enough structural similarity to amphetamine to give a false positive, ditto for things like Shi Chang Pu, Ding Xiang, Xi Xin, etc (the essential oils in these plants have some structural similarity to amphetamine on the chemical level, but probably not nearly close enough to give a false positive given the extreme specificity of those tests). Guest guest
I had a patient taking Huo Ma Ren and it did show up on a drug test. It wasn't a big deal because the tester could see it was a very small amount, but I did need to write a letter stating that they were taking the seed of cannibus, not the herb.
