Guest guest
Help us out here. Who is the publisher? Thanks, Doug , " Yuk Ming " <sxm2649 wrote: > > Dear group members, > > I am so pleased to receive the above book from express mail ordered from Amazon.com, sent from Virginia yesterday. It costs me US$40 inclusive and I happen to buy another one (without 300 cases) in Hong Kong for US$32. I have asked some practitioners in N America and they all told me they had the book. I assume most serious listed members here have this book as well. > > When I looked at the preface, the author said 'Many Chinese scholars of medicine suggest that students read Shanghan Lun and Jin Gui Yao Lue in succession....and he believed it is still valid to this day'. > > I have 2 questions. > > 1) How my colleagues outside China think of this book? > 2) How true is the author's suggestion? > > Regards, > Sung, Yuk-ming >
Guest guest
Hi Doug, Thanks for reminding me. It is by Luo Xiwen, Beijing, New World Press 1995. He quoted Chen Xiu yuan, a Qing medical scholar who said so and no diseases can exceed the scope of six channel'. Does it still hold true today? Guest guest
I personally do not believe this is true, but there are definitely SHL enthusiasts who will say otherwise. -Jason On Behalf Of Yuk Ming Wednesday, March 17, 2010 6:51 AM Re: Synopsis of Prescriptions of the Golden Chamber with 300 cases Hi Doug, Thanks for reminding me. Guest guest
Chen is a talented scholar and I respected his viewpoint. His commentary was not as frequently quoted as other commentators in contemporary textbooks of SHL & JGYL though. However, what contemporary tcm doctors need to focus most is clinical efficacy. Warm Diseases WB and miscellaneous diseases studies have more solutions. Sung, Yuk-ming
