Guest guest
I have a 50 male patient one year post knee replacement. He had severs osteoarthritis before operation. Now he still has stiffness, ach, swelling(was feeling hot now slightly warm) of knee and loss of strength on the medial side of knee. He also is getting BPH sx ie weak urinary sream, nite urination, incomplete urination. Otherwise very healthy. Pulse: slow, weak in both cubit, slightly wiry guan esp left, tongue sl red with white slight yellow coat. Patient runs warm. Dx kd xu with wind-damp(heat). Gave patient varation of Si Miao sani Huang Bai 15g,Yi Yi Ren 15,Cang Zhu 12, Hua Nu Xi 15, han Fang Ji 9, ci wu jia pi 9, san ji shen 9, Fu Ling 9, sheng jiang 3. Between this Ac and not icing the knee patient has seen some improvement esp with less stiffness & ach. Now patient is having a sour stomach(Ht burn) after herbs, too bitter? However, improvement is holding. Thinking of adding Gan Cao to moderate and replacing Stephania with Mua Gua. Also, thinking dx should be KD xu with wind damp no heat. Any suggestions on formula or herbs to moderate bitterness? Thanks Steve
