Guest guest
John, Bu gu zhi has the most research behind it, and shows up most often in formulas. Gu sui bu and san qi are also useful. Take a look at Heiner's formula Ox Bone Pearls, and also Vitality Pearls and Guanyin Pearls. Depending on the dog's overall presentation, these are useful. There is a need to clear any pathogenic heat, and also to strongly tonify yang qi. Also consider herbs that specifically inhibit MMP-9. Turmeric is one, but you will need something more concentrated that just a 5:1 of jiang huang. I have no attachment to the product, but I particularly like BCM-95 from Dolcas-Biotec (available in gel cap from through eipc4health.com). Particularly since it is for a dog, a small dose can go a long way. Dan shen is also useful for this purpose if it is appropriate in the formula. Good luck. Guest guest
Hi John, I have completely stopped bone cancer in a 13 year old dog in the right front leg. This dog had a whole the size of a nickel in her " elbow " joint. I searched the Database for ITM formulas, and combined two formulas (notably neither contained Gu Sui Bu. I used a combination of Subhuti's Zedoria tablets, and this formula in granules,(it is a modification of his ITM's Dang Gui and Milletia): Bai Shao 9g Dan Shen 9g Long Yan Rou 5g Dang Gui 9g Shu Di Huang 9g Ji Xue Teng 25g Huang Qi 9g Dang Shen 9g Chen Pi 9g Bei Xie 8g Chuan Xiong 9g Hai Feng Tong 9g This is one months dose in addition to the Zedoaria. Dose is 1 teaspoon 2x's per day -- but my client generally give it as 1 tablespoon 1 x day. I would have to see the dog to tell you whether this combination would be perfect or not, but with the dog I am treating, it not ony stopped the cancer, but also started to fill in the hole of the bone. I requested that my patient get X ray's after I had treated for 3 months. The x rays showed an elimination of the cancer, and actual bone growth to a point where the previously the Vet had recommended amputation, and now said " I don't know what you are doing, but keep on doing it. " I also treated the dog every week of those 3 months. Now, I treat her once a month or so, and she is in continued remission. Sincerely, L.Ac.
