Guest guest
Well...I got a surprise invite to this group. So I thought I'd give it a shot. I'm vegetarian slowly making the transition to vegan. I became a vegetarian for the animals. It finally struck when I was thinking " I love my cats. They're my kids! I love animals, but I eat them too? " Then I learned of the horrible factory farms & vivisection & everything that is put upon animals for our " pleasure " . It sickened me. So here I am! A proud veggie! I'm getting more active too. Going to Cincinnati all summer to protest IAMS! I'm in Ohio. Home of EVIL Proctor & Gamble. I'm not too big on spicy foods, but you only live once! Mushrooms, peppers of all sorts, tomatoes are a few of my faves. I'm not a good cook, so maybe I'll learn a thing or two here. And share what little I do know of. Well. That's about all there is to know of me I guess. I'll try to be active. I've been too-stressed-out-busy lately. Bummer. Roxanne Ohio
Guest guest
Well, good morning Roxanne ;=) It's good to have you here. I know - and so many of us will know - *exactly* what you mean about the animals. Sometimes it takes a while to click, sometimes it happens all at once, but sooner or later, well, it happens for some of us lucky people. (Some others never get that 'click', despite other people's efforts to help them to hear it. But you never know . . . Meanwhile, they are our friends too, and some of them on this list ;=)) Some people come to vegetarianism for health reasons, of course, or aesthetic reasons (they don't like the taste, texture, or smell of meat or like the idea of themselves eating it for other reasons). Whatever. It all saves the animals *and* saves our health ;=) *AND* gives us great food to eat!!! That's what we're about here - great food. So although you don't like spicy food much I do hope you'll stay with us and share some ideas with us. What spicy food *don't* you like? And what sort of semi-spicy food *do* you like? In most recipes, you know, you can adjust the 'heat' to suit your own taste. Do you like eating foods of other cultures? Which ones? (Me, just about anything as long as, now, it doesn't contain meat, but obviously I have a special affection for the vegetarian dishes of Asia.) So thanks so much for posting - I'm sure others will agree with what you have said. As for being on your way to veganism, that's tough. It's a long road and many vegans would say you never really achieve it in a modern world. That doesn't mean it's not worth the journey, though! Most main course recipes can be adapted to vegan - unless we're talking omelettes or cheese on toast *lol* Chat later?? I'll look forward to it! gf , " kittyagony " <kittyagony@d...> wrote: > Well...I got a surprise invite to this group.
