Guest guest
Yes, guess I am the newest one! I am Bea, from Campinas, SP, Brazil. I am almost 58 (October), divorced, 2 boys aged 33 and 32. I am a former teacher but gave it up and now I am an artisan and I deal with many crafts: weaving; basketry; biscuit; Patchwork & Quilling; Cloth dolls/handbags/slippers/sandals; mosaic; stained glass; texture on canvases/wood/glass; reclycled paper; papier maché; quilling; X- stitching and Hardanger. I have fought with food in general my whole life, chiefly with the scale, lol!!! I am trying to be a 100% veggie again, but have not succeeded very well. Hope it works this time with all the spicy recipes I will be trying from now on. Thanks for inviting me to join this group. I am sure I will love it although I do not have too much time to post. Thank you all for reading my post. Wish you all a great day!!! Hugs, Bea
Guest guest
Welcome, Bea - we're pleased to have you in the group! With such a busy life, you must surely have little time for cooking. Or is it that those who are busiest fit most things into their schedules?? I guess, eh? *lol* Anyway, we should have lots of spicy recipes to keep almost anyone on a nice vegetable-based or vegetable-enhanced diet. Some recipes are likely to be more complicated - well, 'traditional' - than others. But I hope to be able to send in lots of Quick and Spicy recipes too ;=) These are especially important when the summer is on us and we don't want to spend hours in the kitchen! (However, I figure I collect my best 'winter' recipes during the summer when I am sitting in the cool of my computer room ;=)) Enjoy the list. As for the scales, I haven't spoken to mine in at least two weeks after what they had to 'say' last time I nodded at them :=( Sympathies!!! Let's hear more from you soon! gf
Guest guest
I am fairly new to the list, but haven't introduced myself yet. My name is Maida. I am retired and in transition. My husband and I are in the process of relocating from south eastern Michigan to south Florida. We have both been vegetarian for about 10 years. We both turned vegan about 7 years ago, but he has reverted to having eggs and cheese again. We both like spicy food, although I cannot handle spices as well as I used to before getting arthritis and pain medication made me more sensitive. I often have to compensate by having crackers, bread or plain rice during or after eating spicy food.
Guest guest
Hi Maida - nice to meet you ;=) I'm glad you're enjoying the list, but I'm totally sympathizing with you over the problem of your pain meds not going well with the spicy food :=( Those anti- inflammatories, for example, play havoc with the tum and the spicy food kinda makes things a bit more difficult. You can of course always leave the extra hot spices out of your own portion and make sure you eat lots of rice with it all. Not a bad idea anyway ;=) Curries, for example, were not meant to be eaten in the western way as the main part of the meal but more as a condiment to flavour and moisten the rice, which was, and mostly is for many in that part of the world, the main point of the meal. In any case, you can make a little flavour go a long way ;=) Please keep posting - it's good to hear from you. gf
Guest guest
Hello, all! Another newbie here. Just received an invitation to join this group sent to my email. Checked you all out, and signed on! Happy to be a part of the group. Anyone interested in RAW vegan (ethnic) recipes? I try to consume as much fresh, raw, (preferably organic) produce as I possibly can. , " Bea " <atearlier> wrote: > Yes, guess I am the newest one! > I am Bea, from Campinas, SP, Brazil. > I am almost 58 (October), divorced, 2 boys aged 33 and 32. Guest guest
Hi Monica - and welcome to Vegetarian Spice ;=) We're so pleased you have joined us. Yes, I do believe there are one or two others who are raw foodists on this group. I'm looking for some recipes of that nature myself, so I'd be most interested! so don't run away ;=) This group is still new - less than 2 wks old - so it may take a little while but we'll get there. We hope to have all kinds of recipes for all kinds of vegans and vegetarians, including raw foodists, as well as those who just want new vegetable recipes. Now that you have posted, please keep doing it, okay? gf , " Monica " < certifiednutritionist> wrote: > Hello, all! Another newbie here. Guest guest
Welcome, Chuckfry (did I get that right?), to Vegetarian Spice. Certainly with 32 years of vegetarianism behind you (and more in front of you!) you should have lots of great recipes and tips that you might want to share. For the record, the list owner (me) is an ovo-lacto vegetarian with distinct leanings towards a vegan diet ;=) My dh and I have been eating veggie for twenty-plus years - great food! ;=) Let's hear from you again . . . gf , " chuckfry " <chuckfry@j...> wrote: > Yes, a new member to the group.
