Hello everyone. I have a website with a " food and drink " section.

I'm always looking for original recipes. So if anybody would want

to submit one or two I'd greatly appreciate it. Of course I'd want to

try a recipe out first. (it's a tough job but some one has to do it).

And I'd like any recipe to be an original creation. Email me if

you're interested. Thanks.

I have a vegan recipe you may enjoy, and I will be sending it along just as

soon as I can free up some time. It's for a " black bean pizza " which I

created myself. It got a five star rating on another Veggie Website. Get in

touch later.

Peace. Chuck

Not only that, but it's not even a vegetarian recipe section. :(

Oh, and if I post any recipes here I'm intending them for this list and not

anybody's website. I just spent most of my day _hand-making_ seitan, faux

swiss " cheese " and other stuff so my hubby could have vegan reubens. When I

have time I'll type it all up, but I'd be really disturbed to see the recipe

end up next to one for grilled salmon. Yuck.

I see where you're coming from with these concerns. I suggest that if anyone

wishes to send a recipe to Rick's website, they should address the recipe to

him **off list** - that way there can be no confusion. Posts to this list are

considered copyright to the person posting and should not be copied and

distributed outside this list for any purpose without permission of the original

author. That's pretty standard behaviour.

However, it should in fairness be noted that Rick did not say that his website

had a *vegetarian* food and drink section, just a Food and Drink section ;=)

But I kinda assumed it was veggie too. I can understand that one might not

want ones carefully honed home recipes to be mixed in with those including

foods the consumption of which offend ones personal philosophy and

lifestyle. I guess I should also point out that Rick did ask for contributions -

he

never suggested that he would 'borrow' recipes from this list for his website.

If there are further concerns - from you or anyone else I mean ;=) - I think we

should express them now and let Rick speak for himself on the matter. I don't

feel comfortable speaking for him, as you might understand. Frankly,

however, I was a little surprised at the original 'food and drink' post - many

list

owners would consider such a suggestion to be, well, discourteous at best ;=)

I took the suggestion much more inocently than Alexandria. I joined this group

to learn more about food and cooking. I went to the site to check it out to see

if it looked like anything I would be interested in or not. I am all for

finding out about other food related sites. As long as Rick, or others, don't

post other's recipes without permission I see no problem. No one has to send him

his recipe.

Thanks very much - we'll look forward to it! And I guess I ought to put up a

file

folder for those recipes that don't quite fit the category of 'spicy' but that

we'd

all like to have anyway. Any suggestions as to what to call it? - Recipes That

Don't Quite Fit The Category Of . . . is just a wee bit wordy, even for me *lol*

Just ruminating.

I checked it out too ;=) Not a huge list of recipes, but a nice selection, esp.

for

non-vegetarians. I figure we can easily pick and choose from such selections,

although some people prefer to keep me*t-eating separate from their lives,

and I understand that.

Thanks for writing in ;=)

There is no reason why vegan dishes can't be listed in

a non-vegetarian exclusive website. Many people might

eating vegan once in a while be more healthy for it? I

guess I found the " safe haven " comments a bit

" fundamentalism " .

But hey...thanks again. I appreciate your

To be clear, I am only a member and have no connection to the list owner.

If this were my list I would have been offended if someone signed up and

solictied for a non-vegetarian site. I think it's rude. Your intent as you

stated was, " I have a website with a " food and drink " section. I'm always

looking for original recipes. So if anybody would want to submit one or two

I'd greatly appreciate it. " What does that have to do with giving exposure

to the group?

> I enjoy

> vegan dishes but to be quite blunt...once again...I

Yes, narrow in that I only eat and buy specific food items. I see no

reason why I need to venture into meat territory at all.

> I see this every time I frequent the local food co-op.

> There is no reason why vegan dishes can't be listed in

Of course they can be listed. I said I wouldn't want _mine_ listed.

> Many people might

> be inspired to try them. And wouldn't a non-vegetarian

> eating vegan once in a while be more healthy for it? I

That would depend on the type of food. There are really unhealthy food

choices in any dietary category. Maybe it's a little more difficult to eat

unhealthy as a vegan though. I think this list is for all vegetarian food,

not just vegan.

> guess I found the " safe haven " comments a bit

> insecure. In theological terms I might label it

> " fundamentalism " .

Insecure? I'd just rather not need to sort through recipes, and I'd rather

my hard work creating recipes and typing them up not be lost on a

meat-eating audience. To most, they are just another recipe, and many would

even include meat in the meal anyway.

Little funny story: My wedding reception had completely vegan food that i

prepared. There were guests that actually thanked my husband and I for

being *kind* enough to think of them and serve meat. I still laugh about

it. Like it would pain them to eat vegetarian. I live in Wisconsin, USA --

beer, bratwurst, and cheese country.

Sorry if I seem snobbish. I promise I'll be good. :)

I am very sorry, Rick, that I have upset you :=(

Certainly it was not my intent - you are a valued

member of the group of course. My responses are

interpolated between parts of your post, okay? ;=)

>contrary to what a few of your

> members have suggested my intent was to give some

> exposure to the vegan group...not vice versa.

I had no doubt whatsoever that your intentions were

good.

>I enjoy vegan dishes but to be quite blunt...

Me too ;=)Most are a nice change from the old canned

carrots and peas, eh? *lol*

>once again...I find some vegans defensive

>and...well...narrow minded. I see this every time I

frequent the local food co-op.

Well, I guess that is your experience. This isn't of

course your local food co-op and I have seen no

evidence from vegetarians or non-vegetarians on this

list of narrow-mindedness - quite the opposite ;=)

> There is no reason why vegan dishes can't be listed

> in a non-vegetarian exclusive website.

Unless, of course, the originators of the dishes

prefer to have them on a vegetarian website. That is

their decision to make.

>Many people might be inspired to try them. And

>wouldn't a non-vegetarian

> eating vegan once in a while be more healthy for it?

Can't argue that one.

> I

> guess I found the " safe haven " comments a bit

> insecure.

That was my remark, not so much defensive (why would I

be defensive about being vegetarian?) as descriptive.

>In theological terms I might label it

> " fundamentalism " .

Well, while we are throwing labels around, that one

sounds kinda judgemental. Many would take it as a

compliment and many not. However, I don't speak in

theological terms and didn't when I used the 'safe

haven' expression. I would have thought it was a

nautical term *lol*

> But hey...thanks again. I appreciate your

> willingness to share and I hope your group

> flourishes.

Well, we do too, of course. But do I detect here a

suggestion you are thinking of leaving the group over

this? I do hope not. For although you have only posted

a couple of times, is it, first to say who you were

and again to ask for us to send you our recipes, I

imagine that anyone who has such an interest in food

and health and nutrition would have a lot to share

with this group. Won't you please stay? We'll be

looking forward to hearing from you again soon ;=)

shall we?
