Guest guest
GF and others have posted recipes with various ingredients that I was unfamiliar with, and in the process of looking up a particular herb I came across Gernot Katzer's Spice Pages. I thought it was an extremely interesting site so I thought I would pass it along. He presents information on 117 different spice plants. He emphasizes their use in ethnic cuisines, particularly in Asia and includes discussions on theie history, chemical constituents and etymology of their names. He also includes a number of photographs of the plants and dried spices. I have not thoroughly explored the site so I cannot say whether or not he is vegetarian or whether he mentions the use of meat or fish in his discussions. Oh me neither. But it's the *spices* we are going there for. If it's not veggie, well, apologies to you all. gf
