Certainly some of you here will opt to go for the whole HAB-anero as opposed to the half i went for in my interpretation of this dish. i did consult several chili pepper experts prior to cooking as i was not familiar with them. In using the half hab i was quite pleased in that the soup had a good amount of heat but didn't over-power the delicate flavors of the rest of the ingredients. All The Reds Soup (vegan) 1 red bell pepper, seeded and chopped 1/2 small habanero chili, seeded and finely minced 1 large red onion, chopped 3 garlic cloves, minced 2 Tbs olive oil 1 can (14 oz)can diced tomatoes w/ jalapeno peppers 4 cups stock 2 Tbs rice (your choice as any type works well in this; used basmati) 2 Tbs Worcestershire sauce 1 cups prepared red kidney beans 1 tsp dried oregano 1 tsp sugar (used sucinot) Salt and freshly ground pepper; fresh parsley, chopped for garnish. 1. Put the red pepper, onion, garlic and oil into a large saucepan. Heat until sizzling, then turn down heat to low. Cover and cook gently for 5 minutes. 2. Add the rest of the ingredients, except the garnishes, and bring to a boil. Stir well, then simmer, covered, for 15 minutes. Yup - spicy really does work, doesn't it (though of course not for everyone ;=)) I'll copy it and paste it up (why do I always think of it as 'up'??? *lol*) in the Files right now!
