Guest guest
Cucumber Facial 1 cucumber 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice 1 teaspoon witch hazel (you can buy this in any drug store) 1 egg white, beaten with an electric beater until fluffy. Peel the cucumber and run it through a blender or a food processor. Pour the cucumber pulp into a colander or strainer and force it through, catching the liquid that comes out in a bowl underneath. Combine the cucumber liquid with the lemon juice and the witch hazel. Stir it and add the beaten egg white gently. Put it on your face and leave it on for 15 to 25 minutes, then rinse off. CUCUMBER MASK FOR OILY SKIN 1/2 Cucumber 1 Egg white 1 T Lemon juice 1 tsp mint Puree everything and refrigerate for 10 minutes. Apply the mixture to your face and leave it on for 15 minutes. Rinse with warm, then cool water. http://www.makeyourcosmetics.com/recipes/viewrec.asp?id=82 & cat=facial http://www.ivillage.co.uk/food/tools/recipefinder/display_recipe/0,,5779,00.html Enjoy! Beth Still got those cukes, eh? *lol* Well, our uses for them are limited - sliced in sandwiches with other 'salad' ingredients, in salads, pickles, and as accompaniments, in various guises, with spicy foods incl. curries. But here goes: Don't forget using them in gado gado - not just a salad ;=) - that spicy peanut sauce changes the whole idea of what a cucumber is. Also a cucumber raita goes well as a 'side dish' wish any curries, and you can make wonderful cucumber drinks. I have also had an Iranian dish which is sweetish and eaten as a snack from a bowl with a spoon - finely chopped cucumbers, finely chopped mint, a little sugar syrup and lots of ice cubes - cooling on a blistering day. Cold soups you know about. There's also a blended Indian dish - diced *cooked* cukes pureed with ground mustard seeds, dried chilies, hing, tamarind, etc.- as a side dish or over rice - but it won't keep long of course. Back to the pickles! I was also intrigued by the suggestion that you could make skin creams and lotions from cucumbers - I'd be begging for that recipe if I had a surplus of cukes right now ;=) Best, Pat ;=)
