Guest guest
Welcome! So you are a brand new veggie! Congratulations ;=) i'm sure you'll find it is a choice you will feel more and more comfortable with as time goes on. As for your daughter, well, she hasn't necessarily read the books you have or doesn't necessarily think the way you do about what was in the books, so you might have to go gently with her change to vegetarianism for a while ;=) It'll be fine, though, I am sure. And there are bound to be people here who can recommend something she can read for herself. You say: >I used to think vegetarians were simply, very disciplined, strict eaters Oh we are, we are. Especially around our favourite dishes! You should see how disciplined I am tucking into a platter of . . . . ;=) >(possibly for spiritual reasons). I didn't realize that it tied into protecting the > >environment and caring about how animals are treated, and lots of other wonderful benefits. Vegetarians, by definition, are those who don't eat meat. We may eat eggs or dairy - or one of them - or not at all. And we - as a group - have many reasons for eating the way we do. It may indeed be religious or spiritual, or ethical, or because of the environment, world hunger, the animals, or because of health, or something else. Some simply dislike the taste of meat. But of course it all ties in. If you avoid meat because you think it's unhealthy, for example, it also saves a life ;=) However, I digress - I'm always doing that! LOL Here you will find lots of people happy to share recipes and cooking tips for really good spicy vegetarian food. I look forward to talking to you about all that in the future.
