Guest guest
1. What is your name or what may we call you? -->Kevin [aka 'feline_rancher' - Most of the time I feel like I'm herding cats...] 2. How long have you been a vegetarian, or how long have you been interested in vegetarian cookery? -->I have been a near-vegetarian for about 10 years. I much prefer tempeh or tofu to any kind of meat, don't do eggs [cholesterol], but still like cheese on occassion. 3. What country are you in now? --> USA 4. What city, town or region? --> Northeast Atlanta, Georgia [but I'm a New England native...] 5. What age are you (just roughly, very roughly!)? -->War baby, Korean War, that is.... 6. Why did you join this group (apart from receiving an invitation! *lol*)? -->Meet others who like spicy vegetarian food. Promote tempeh! Offer up my culinary knowledge from 25 years as a resident of: Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, China [PRC]. Promote these healthy cuisines..Get some new recipes. 7. What kinds of (vegetarian) foods or cuisines interest you most? -->Indonesia, Thai, Indian, Jamaican....spicy spicy spicy.. 8. Is there anything you'd like to tell the group? --> More of a general question. I know that vegetarianism in SE Asia is rooted mostly in religion. But how about North America? Would you say vegetarians are mostly characterized by: a) revulsion to carrion eating, b) diet/health, c) religion d) generalized animal rights, [hence TVP mock-meat products] e) veggies and soy products just taste better f) environmental [veggies (vs meat) as food represent more effective use of land resources] Perhaps a mix of these...? I'm curious. For me, in order of importance, I would characterize my vegetarian positions as: e-d-f-b-a Kevin
Guest guest
Hi Kevin, My closest reason would be close to A and D. Compassion is my biggest reason. Then, I would choose B,F,C and E Cyndi >^. .^< On Thu, 9 Sep 2004 14:33:52 -0700 (PDT) Everett Portswaine <feline_rancher writes: 8.
