Guest guest
Hello all I have been in lurk mode for far too long I am hoping to make a nice veggie pizza for my birthday meal (my day, my way lol). I found some great vegan cheese (yummy, great deal and tastes great), but would like some ideas that aren't too off the wall I hope to make it with my Mom (parents are coming out day after my bday), and would like an option for myself (family is not veggie, but I am trying to be as close as possible). Thanks in advance! Greatly appreciate any ideas ~Tara
Guest guest
Hey Tara, how's life in the underworld? My suggestion would be to load up on veggies. How inspiring, huh? How about chopping up some chilies & throwing them on? Rehydrate a few, whizz them up & add to the sauce. Ummm....I'm lame - I like pepperoni *ducking* myself. Have a great day! Guest guest
>Ummm....I'm lame - I like pepperoni *ducking* myself. Have a great day! Heh heh heh Well you might duck! This is a *vegetarian* list, guys! LOL Okay? About the pizza: my favourite pizza is a good pasta sauce (tomatoes, herbs, onions, garlic, grated carrot, cooked together until yummy - you can freeze it in batches after that and it keeps beautifully) to which I add a scatter of crushed chilies (you can finely chop some fresh ones if you like, but they're harder to scatter evenly ;=)) then chopped green, red and yellow capsicum/ bellpepper, sliced mushrooms, sliced black and/or, capers, and, if you have some handy, some quartered artichoke hearts out of the jar (I buy em that way for just this kind of purpose). Top with yer favourite cheez ;=) Of course, there's all that fake me*t out there too, but who needs it with all those lovely mushrooms! Best love, Pat ;=)

Guest guest
i didn't see the original post for this for some reason, but we discovered a fantastic " pizza " idea on the weekend when we were scrambling to make something for a pot-luck lunch. we had made a spicy tomato chickpea curry masala the night before using Pataks Curry Masala paste as a base spice and served it over hot rice. we had leftovers, so we spread it over 2 large whole wheat pizza shells and topped it with soya cheese. we baked them for 10 minutes each and sliced them up into triangles. they went like hot-cakes! i also love making pizza with pesto as a base, then using marinated artichoke hearts, sun dried tomatoes, fried onions & red pepper, pine nuts and feta cheese. yum! Guest guest
Jo, This sounds yummy. I'm going to try both of your ideas. Thanks! I love artichokes and spinach on my pizza, too. Guest guest
Some of the best vegan pizza I've had was made by some friends of mine in San Francisco. Some of the ingredients I'm not sure where to get, but man, did it make it good! The crusts were cornmeal crusts they got at one of the coop's (I'll try and get the brand from my friend). They used a vegan sauce, vegan cheese, mushrooms, cooked crumbled tofu, and vegan " pepperoni " (tastes a little like Seitan, but better)...baked as usual...holy cow was it good! I know for myself, I'd probably use regular cheese, but the cheese they had was pretty good... even better: it was followed by a fresh berry cobbler.... good friends, eh?
