Guest guest
Hello again Jo ;=) About tempeh - you ask: >do you pronounce it > " temp-ah " or just like it looks with an actual " eh " sound? Well, the way I have learned to pronounce it is: TEHM-pay <shrug> I believe that's correct - but if not it shouldn't pose a problem for your grocer anyway ;=) > one more question: last night it was my hubbie's b-day and we ordered from >a vegetarian chinese takeway place (the tofu in spicy peanut sauce rocks > there!) but noticed they have something called " gluten balls " in different > kinds of sauces. have you ever tried those and what are they like? I assume it is a form of seitan - made from wheat flour. Perhaps chopped up and flavoured to resemble me*tballs? Should be great - certainly worth trying. The texture of seitan is different from tofu or tempeh but of course like both it takes on the flavour of the marinade or cooking sauce. Is that what you wanted to know? And now the OT stuff which I'll keep v. brief (or we'll have to go off list): Re my going to school in Winnipeg, you ask 'university or younger?' Ohhh much much younger - all that came later ;=) My family was only in wpg 6 years and moved from there when I was 14. And that was, hmmmmm, half a century ago . . . (And before you ask, it was St Mary's Academy.) >parlez-vous francais?. . . My French is abysmal, I'm afraid, although I can read it fairly well and make myself understood in a pinch LOL So many years outside Canada kinda ruined me. Fortunately, the citizens of Montreal are a patient lot and also, for the most part, speak excellent English ;=) Best, Pat ;=)
