Guest guest
Greetings, It just occured to me that I love spicy desserts. Here's a favourite which I've just made: you can 'up' the spices as much as you like (e.g. ginger for 'hot', nutmeg for 'hallucenegenic' :-) Spicy apple-berry crumble 2 lb cooking apples, cored and chopped (peeled if wished) 0.5 lb berries (e.g. blackberries, raspberries, as available) 4 oz wholemeal flour 4 oz rolled oats 2 oz brown sugar 2 fl oz olive oil 1 oz marzipan, thinly sliced 1 stick cinnamon (for apples) 1 tsp ground cinnamon (for topping) 2 tsp ground ginger 1/2 tsp ground coriander 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg To serve: vegan creme, vegan vanilla ice-creme, ground flax seeds... 1 deep oven-proof dish Pre-heat your oven: 170 C/325 F/Gas 3. Microwave the apples in the oven-proof dish with half the spices, until fluffy. Meanwhile, thoroughly combine the oil, oats, flour, sugar and remaining spices to a crumbly texture (adjust the oil as needed) in a mixing bowl. Stir the berries into the cooked apple, lay over the sliced marzipan, top with crumble, and bake for 15 mins or until golden. Serve neat, or with sinful or saintly toppings :-) And now I shall go and eat some (saint-fashion)! treaclemine
