Guest guest
I was wondering this: If you had a favourite herb or spice that you felt you just couldn't do without, what would it be??? And why??? We'll assume on this list that we all like to use chillies; so apart from chillies, cayenne, pepper . . . What? Okay, you're allowed TWO favourites if you like LOL Me? Nah, you guys go first - I'll catch up later! Best, Pat ;=)
Guest guest
I guess thyme. Love the stuff; use it in most everything. Oregano is up there too. So isn't rosemary...mmmmmmmmmmmmm. Chili powders don't count, eh? Because I go through a ****load of ancho & chipotle powder. And cumin. And cinnamon...and nutmeg. Choose 1??? Are you nuts??? PAT, be reasonable! Chilies aside, thyme would rank #1. Bethie I was wondering this: If you had a favourite herb or spice that you felt you just couldn't do without, what would it be??? And why??? Guest guest
Hello, I would have to say Garlic. It tastes good, adds kick to recipies and has numerous health benefits. Thats the one I would miss the most. Guest guest
hello everyone, my girlfriend cooks alot, and she's mad about using all sorts of spices. she's gotten rather attached to a place we found online that sells organic spice mixtures. here are her two favourites: Seasoning blend #15 c. dill seed, c. golden beets, c. coriander, c. fig leaves, w. grass, w. sumach, c. chard, c. garlic stalks, c. salsify, c. asafotida, c. broccoli raab, wild onion leaves, c. lovage, c. cayenne, c. parsley, c. sorrel, c. cumin, c. sage. Seasoning blend #5 c. anise seed, c. oregano, w. garlic leaves, c. asafotida, c. sage, c. fig leaves, c. onion leaves, Indian cumin, hickory seasoning, c. cayenne, sun dried unrefined sea salt. (c. = cultivated w. = wild) Here is the link to see all the blends http://www.nmcnews.org/nmc/blends.html Peace to all! I can't get enough...usually, when a recipie calls for 1 or 2 cloves, I'll put 4... Gina

Guest guest
Ah, what an EXCELLENT question for discussion! So we get two choices, huh... okay, my first one would be salt. Just basic salt. Salt salt salt! I am a salt-o-holic. Must have salt to enhance some flavors. Secondly, gaaaaalic! Love garlic. Growing garlic in my backyard! Cannot live without garlic in my house... especially garlic salt! ;-) -selena
Guest guest
Have you tried sea salt? It's much better for you than regular table salt (i.e. more minerals). http://www.causeof.org/salt.htm#SeaSaltBeneVs http://www.curezone.com/foods/saltcure.asp On another subject... I made some yummy veggie curry last night. I steamed pieces of yam, garlic, chard, and zucchini. I boiled Thai noodles and rinsed them with cold water. I put some coconut milk in a pot and brought it to a simmer with curry paste. When the coconut milk was heated up, I added the noodles and veggies, mixed it up for a minute and it was ready! Easy and yummy! Peace... Charlie Selena <austinrengirl wrote: Ah, what an EXCELLENT question for discussion! So we get two choices, huh... okay, my first one would be salt. Just basic salt. Guest guest
My favourites sort of depend on the season. At this time of year when everyone around seems to be sneezing and coughing I use a lot more garlic, sage and thyme. The latter two are very good antiseptics if you find yourself with a cold or sore throat. A all round year favourite has to be honey. Not only is it a great flavouring in food it is also good for infections too :-) Peace, Shohna , " greenfury2004 " <greenfury2004> wrote: > > I was wondering this: If you had a favourite herb or spice that you felt you just > couldn't do without, what would it be???
