Guest guest
Here are my ratings for two frozen naan products, both by Deep Foods. Good naans are not easy to make at home. Naans are what attract some people to Indian restaurants. There are severals naan and naan type frozen products that can be found at Indian groceries in USA. I would have to say that Deep's Garlic Naan and Tandoori Naan are winners. When properly heated, they are much better than restaurant naans reheated (which tend to become a little stretchy). They have the lightness people are looking for in a naan. They are significantly better than other similar products. The directions on the wrapper tell you to " bake " them briefly up in a pre-heated oven. Using a toaster-oven would be quick, if you only want to make just a couple of them. I have found that " toasting " in a hot toaster oven also works. There is a trick to heating naans and other thick uneven breads. You can sprinkle and spread a frew drops of water on the surface to make sure the surfce does not burn when the inside is geting warm. Also you can smear a little water on the thin spots, dark spots and edges to make sure they don't burn. Make sure to take them out before they start drying out. I was surprized to see that their Garlic naan has a lightly different and more complex formulation that the plain Tandoori naan. The results are slighlty different. Here are my ratings using the criteria given at /message/2014 Deep Foods Garlic Naan appearance: +1 flavor: +1 taste: +1 texture: +1 that would give it *****. Excellent. Deep Foods Tandoori Naan appearance: +1 flavor: +1 taste: +1 texture: +0 to +1 that would give it **** or *****. Quite nice. Has any of you tried them? What do you think?
