Guest guest
This looks sooooo good. I'm very very fond of black beans - to me they're the most flavourful - and of course I adore anything with olives ;=) Regular tortillas with that? Best, Pat ;=)

Guest guest
Hi Susie! Understood ;=) No need to apologize - not at all! Some members might not know what tamales are, of course - so a recipe might not be needed but a bit of a clue as to what this mixture is actually for might be a bit useful. I understand that it is difficult, on a list as wide-ranging as this one, to remember that some dishes that might be very familiar to one person or a whole group of people might be unknown or at least relatively unfamiliar to others. It depends on which part of the world you have grown up in or are living in now. And all recipes posted to the list reach all members - which is a *good* thing, eh? LOL Soooo, to put it another way, what if we can't get cornhusks at our local market - then what would you suggest? Abandon hope? Maybe. Seems a shame, though. Best, Pat ;=) Thanks so much. > this was a recipe for tamale filling. a member stated > that he was planning on making veggie tamales. i > guess i assumed he knew how to make tamales and just > needed some ideas for fillings and didn't post > instructions on making the actual tamales. sorry. > > i'll see if i can find some info on making tamales if > anyone is interested. > susie

Maybe. > Seems a shame, > though. banana leaves to wrap tamales are traditional in some parts of mexico. i've also seen tamales wrapped in collard greens. i would venture to say that fresh corn husks would work too. i hesitate to post a recipe because i don't have one (aside from fillings)...i use the masa recipe on the package of masa harina. there are tons of tamale instructions and recipes online. again, i hesitate to post, because i haven't personally tried them, and most mention meat and meat ingredients. susie All your favorites on one personal page – Try My

Collard greens - now there's an idea! > i hesitate to post a recipe because i don't have one > (aside from fillings)...i use the masa recipe on the > package of masa harina. Oh I wouldn't worry - the info posted on making tamales more than covers it for those unfamiliar with them ;=) And if mixes are available - hey - I didn't know mixes were available. (Why not? I wonder!) I've never seen them. But of course I might not LOL I think everyone has a pretty good idea now - myself included - and there should be no prob at all. I'll just put a note on the recipe (when I put it in the Files) that there's info about making tamales in xxxxxx file, okay? Best, Pat ;=)
