Wow, thanks for all the postings... for the record, I am latino and am using a

Masa mix. We are adding vegetable broth and our own chili to the masa. We have

made two fillings: one with cuts from our wheat loaf that have been soaked in

our chili and another with pinto beans (what we had) and green olives and some

pico added.

Tis the season and glad to have a good discussion!

We used to live in San Antonio and could more readily find tamales than here in

DFW, Hot Damn Tamales is a nice local restaurant but a bit too pricey for what I

consider more traditonal and vegetarian tamales.

hi lobo,

we used to get tamales at a little place in fort worth

(i used to live in arlington), but i can't for the

life of me remember the name. it was south of

i-30...kinda in the downtown/tcu vicinity. usually i

made my own. you can really get creative with the

fillings. potato, chickpea, and salsa verde is a

good one. potato, black bean, cilantro and cumin is

good too.

nice to talk to a fellow texan!
