Guest guest
Just an idea. Maybe we can start collecting phone numbers/names and have a gathering some Sat. night to make different veg versions of tamales. Doesn't have to be this week if everyone is on vac, but perhaps Jan. I have a Nesco slow cooker( white rectangle unit) and an alumninum table mount gadget that spreads the masa on the husks. It takes 2 people to operate, 1 to turn the crank the other to pull it out. I haven't made them in 5 years since I stopped eating pork and anxious to try vegetarian versions! I have other stock pots to cook them also. I live in Lewisville, TX and wouldn't mind hosting it just to enjoy learning something new & friendships. I've been wanting to try this combo abombo & experiment until I get it right. -pinto beans with soy chorizo, goat cheese and spinach with a spicy chile ancho sauce. And also try the black beans & olives too! I love olives. I'm a single mom and want to teach my my 7yr old the tradition but a vegetarian version. Guest guest
Hi Anita! I like your idea of the get-together. What a great chance to try out our recipes among fellow members. I'm not sure if your get-together is just for local people, but many members live quite a distance from Dallas-Ft Worth. I live in Canada, and I think the owner of this list is also Canadian. So the more lead time involved, the better. I'd love to attend a spring or summer event. Have a Blessed Day, Denise Eli's Lover - Anita <anitajcp DFW Vegetarian Tamale Party?? Guest guest
Anita, I haven't forgotten you... when is a good date for you? Depending on how many people can attend, maybe we can each bring some of the supplies and each persons ideas for fillings? Also, maybe we could coordinate with the Dallas & FW Veg Societies or any other local groups who might be interested... probably not many? I'll try to call you sometime in the upcoming week, too Lobo Anita <anitajcp wrote: Just an idea.
