Guest guest
Hope you are all having a great christmas but spare a thought for others who don't have it so good. Please, please go to www.makepovertyhistory.org and see what you can do to help! See the forwarded message below. Thanks, Laura x Make Poverty History <comicrelie wrote: Make Poverty History To: Make Poverty History 2005 Wed, 22 Dec 2004 10:14:06 -0600 Hello, Next year could be one of the most important ever in the fight against poverty. A series of landmark meetings are taking place where world leaders could finally end the kind of extreme poverty that claims 30,000 lives every single day - that's about 40 needless deaths by the time you have finished reading this email. To make sure the politicians don't miss this golden opportunity, we need to let them know that enough is enough - that we want them to use the power they have to end poverty for good. And the more of us that say it, the more chance we have of being heard. So please forward this mail right now to everyone you know. This is our chance to change the world, and it's for real. We'll be back in touch in January to tell you more about how you can help Make Poverty History, until then, thank you for your interest. Please, please go to >www.makepovertyhistory.org and see what you can do to help! Many of us have chosen vegetarianism because of concern for world poverty and world hunger as well as for non-human animals, the environment, etc. We can pull together to make an impact by showing that our chosen way is not merely a faddish lifestyle but a truly caring choice. Thanks, Laura. I shall pass this on to my other groups. Best love, Pat
Guest guest
On a not unrelated note, I offer you the following from my co-owner on another list. But first a word: We are vegetarians for many reasons, usually mixed. Those of us who are concerned for world hunger, world poverty, the environment as well as non-human animals might consider that we can make an impact on the world by not only trying to or hoping to 'convert' others to vegetarianism but also by showing that our vegetarianism is more than a 'diet' or a faddish lifestyle. The website for Make Poverty History is, predictably, http://www.makepovertyhistory.org Anyway, here's what my friend posted - at a most opportune time in many ways.
