Guest guest
Vegan cheeze (you can slice this up) 1 ½ c. water 5 Tbs. Agar-agar ½ c. raw cashews (I used salted regular kind b/c that’s what I had) ½ c. silken tofu ¼ c. nutritional yeast ¼ c. lemon juice 2 Tbs. Tahini (optional……I didn’t use it b/c I didn’t have any) 1 ½ tsp. Onion powder 1 tsp. Salt ¼ tsp. Garlic powder (I used one raw clove) ¼ tsp. Caraway seed (didn’t have any….used a seed similar to cumin instead) paprika (once again…didn’t have any so I used turmeric. Worked just fine!) do this first: Oil (or oil spray) a 3 cup rectangular mold (I used a square “Tupperware” container – the kind you store food in) and sprinkle sides and bottom with paprika/turmeric. bring water and agar-agar to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes. Place all remaining ingredients in a blender (except paprika/turmeric) and blend until smooth. Pour into container, and chill several hours. Slice away! This also seems to melt nicely too. Note: I would use a little more nutritional yeast for flavor next time. I also added a chopped jalapeno pepper to the boiling water/agar so it would turn out as ‘spicy’ cheeze. The texture is similar to dairy cheese, but not 100% right on. *** note **** i made this a week ago w/ one block of mori-nu lite silken tofu, 2 c. water, NO nuts, one envelope of agar-agar,no tahini, and the rest of the above ingredients. i used a bread loaf pan for the mold. it turned out great. this stuff is a little weird w/ it's melting.... sometimes it melts well, sometimes it doesn't. it's very testy. you have to experiment w/ it. i don't like commercial vegan cheeze. it's so expensive and always tastes baaaad. love angela All your favorites on one personal page – Try My
