After all that, I have to ask! What does cassava taste like - in itself, I mean.

Is it

bland like potato (I know there is a 'bitter' kind), sweet like sweetpotato or

carrot or parsnip? 'cabbagey' like turnip? Sharp like radish? Earthy like taro?

What about texture? Really curious.

Best, Pat ;=)

Fresh it taste's like a white potato, but to my taste not as good as a potato. I

grow them in my backyard.

The Brazillians buy it in granualar's and sprinkle it on everything.

It peels like a potato

For some reason, I always compare it to the texture and flavor of a

water chestnut (canned variety). I think the peppers are numbing my

tastebuds, lol.

In that case, mine too, cuz I think that water chestnuts (I can't recall the

fresh

variety - only had em once or twice I think) have a decided nutty taste. And

crisp. Yes, it would be great to get that subtle taste and texture ;=) But Nah!

Peppers perk up the tastebuds ;=)

Thanks. At this rate I'll know all about cassava without ever having seen or

tasted it! Sneaky me.

Best,

Pat ;=)
