<terebinthus Re: Ashland, OR. ~ hi Tom How lovely. i just

adore Ashland. If i hadn't found my perfect house here in Grants Pass, Ashland

is definitely where i would want to live. You have a much more vegetarian

friendly social climate there. Cheers! ~ pt ~

It’s the most vegan/vegetarian friendly place I know of, which is why I’ve

settled here. It’s also a great place for vegans and vegetarians to vacation,

which we should let our friends in the group know since many of them are

planning trips this summer. Ashland, Oregon has the Oregon Shakespeare Festival

which runs from February to October, and accommodations include around 90 bed

and breakfasts, a dedicated vegetarian restaurant, around a half-dozen bakeries,

a co-op and two other grocery stores with extensive bulk food sections and

organic produce, a farmers’ market on Tuesdays with locally grown organic

produce, and a wilderness that is a 20 minute walk from downtown, for those who

like their food wildly grown (the wild strawberries are in season, by the way).

Other attractions in the region include the Britt Festival in Jacksonville, the

Vortex in Gold Hill, Crater Lake, the Cascade-Siskiyou Monument, and the Oregon

Caves. There is the wolf sanctuary out near Cave Junction, and

Wildlife Images up there near Grants Pass. Not far to the south from Ashland,

in Northern California is the Farm Sanctuary, where you can meet some huge

full-grown beings that were rescued veal calves and scratch them behind the ears

or back up on their shoulder blades, if you can reach that far up - they will

bow down once you start, so you can to their favorite spots, or they will lay

their huge heads in your arms as you rub their cheeks. They’re quicker to get to

know you if you’re a vegan or vegetarian and don’t have the smell of a meat

eater....

Peace,

Tom
