Guest guest
I recently bought a microwave popcorn bowl to be able to buy bulk popcorn, then make popcorn in a microwave. Does anyone here have any tips on how to make the corn pop better? It either burns slightly, or I get a lot of un-popped corn. Thanks! Guest guest
Old school Do you have much experience? You're supposed to heat the oil in the pot ... place a few kernals in and when they pop, the oil is hot enough ... then place the rest of your popcorn in the pot, keep a lid on top till you don't hear much popping. I used to keep my popcorn refrigerated too... otherwise, it ages faster outside I found thin pots don't help b/c they heat too fast my $0.02 Lobo marsvideopro <marsvideopro wrote: I recently bought a microwave popcorn bowl to be able to buy bulk popcorn, then make popcorn in a microwave. Thanks! Josh I use a microwave popcorn maker, too. You just have to experiment with cooking times. Does your microwave have temperature settings so you can cook at a lower percentage of heat? You might try doing the popcorn for a longer time at a lower temperature, eg 80 or 90%. from Maida Citizens for Pets in Condos, http://www.petsincondos.org South Florida Vegetarian Events, http://www.soflavegevents.net
Guest guest
>so, anyone > out here have any microwave experience in making popcorn? thanks for > trying! Let me add a note to this discussion: Okay, I haven't done microwave popcorn much - and not lately, I'm afraid - and only when given those shockingly wasteful packs of microwaveable popcorn that one just throws into the nuker and nukes. I have noted that it is very very hard to get the timing right even on those so-called foolproof packs - either 1/3 to 1/2 is unpopped, or it chars in about the same proportion. I really think a lot depends on your m.oven - some are truly hotter than others and in the case of something that only has to be in for a very short time, this can be a problem. Underpopping or overdoing it, depending, in this kind of situation. I'm made suddenly aware of the differences in microwave ovens this week after having replaced my 'ancient' 6-yr-old machine. I'm really having to relearn the settings! Good luck. Popcorn, microwave popped or old school popped, may not be a gourmet treat, but most people like it at some time in their lives, if only to string on holiday trees.
