Guest guest
Can you post your chili recipes? I searched through past posts and most were pretty old. Maybe with all the new people we can get some new recipes? Mine is kinda bland and we've been making the same exact thing for 15+ years. We just mix 2 different kinds of beans with vegetable juice. No spices, etc. I need an intervention! lol Brandy

Guest guest
I " just " made this yesterday evening. It, so far, is the best batch of beans I've made (or chili beans since I used chile powder). I don't have a recipe - just eyeballed it and added what I have. Raw pinto beans (bag) that have been soaked overnight. Place in pot add water to cover and bring to boil and turn off heat. Add contents to crockpot and place setting on high. When the beans got tender (about 3 hours) I added the following contents - 1/2 of a " big " onion that has been grilled over charcoal and mesquite wood, chopped 1/4 of a bell pepper that has been grilled over charcoal and mesquite wood, chopped (I would have used more but this is all I had left) 3 green onions chopped 4 cloves of garlic, minced (the more the merrier) 1 cup frozen corn 1 decent sized bunch of cilantro, chopped (probably about 10 sprigs) 1 can of Mexican style diced tomatoes (I take a knife and cut a bit more while they are in the can) 2 corn tortillas, torn into small pieces chile powder, plenty cumin, plenty 1 cube veg bouillon sea salt bit of pepper The beans were a bit over done in that they started splitting. The splitting along with the much seasonings thickened up the broth to what I consider a true chili consistency. It was very unexpected and yet the best batch of beans I've done yet. This isn't much of a step by step recipe but it may give you some ideas. I've also added zucchini to chili. I've added tvp, Mexican oregano, liquid smoke, cayenne pepper, basil, oregano... I'd say that this is the first time that I actually didn't add any hot peppers to it. Normally I would have added some jalps. I even had serranos on hand last night along with a couple of types of dried peppers but went against it. Something must be in the water. Let us know how it goes and of course what kind of " spices " you used. S. On 10/11/05, brandy wrote: > > Can you post your chili recipes? I searched through past posts and > most were pretty old.
