Guest guest
No, don't leave, Rain. You have done nothing wrong. i believe to post here, even via some recipe site, one would have to be a member. Pat and her help crew will have no trouble finding the person/s who did this, and will ban them right away. We need good people like you here on the list. ~ pt ~ You can't do anything about the length of your life, but you can do something about its width and depth. ~H.L. They probably just looked through the group and picked addresses that seemed to show up a lot. I have a very good idea who it was, there have been some people following me through groups online, doing this. If it's a big problem, I could leave and then they'll leave you alone. Just let me know. > > Rain
Guest guest
To spoof, you only need to know that a certain person is a member, and then you use their email address and send from an offlist site. Trust me, it's been done to me before. Also, a quick question for the mods. My account was suspended by for a few weeks, because apparently someone tried to spoof from my account, and went over 's allowed quota. Since messages now require approval, I was wondering if this was the group that they were trying to send the messages to? Rain , " Feral " <terebinthus> wrote: > > No, don't leave, Rain. Guest guest
I just got told by that I could not forward on something because I had exceeded my limit. I did not know there was a limit or has someone else used by address for spam? Is that what you are talking about? Where do I go in to deal with this. They referred me to set up my own group? I don't want to set up a group--I have no time to monitor a group--I do well to read a fraction of my mail every day. I did not know there was a limit or has someone else used by address for spam? Was this a e-mail account or when replying/forwarding from a ? I know nothing about 's mail program, but for groups, there *is* a limit of 50 messages posted to one group in a 20-minute period. That usually happens when someone is on vacation or away from the office and sets up an auto-responder message telling people they're away, or for people like me, who download all their mail, read and reply while off-line, and if it's a really busy list it's very easy to surpass the 50-message limit to one group. Sometimes puts people on auto-responder status even if they *didn't* exceed 50 messages in 20 minutes - they're flaky now and then. If you think this is what happened, that you're blocked because you're in " autoresponder mode " you can go to this web page on : http://add2.dir.scd./fast/help/us/groups/cgi_my and scroll down to question #4 and chose " How do I reset my " Auto-responder " status? " and send that form in. Hope this helped. Sue in NJ
Guest guest
(sorry this is so late, I'm just really busy with school and work) I actually got this straightened out, and I know who's been doing it to my account. I just need to get certain info to give to before they'll investigate it. Rain Sue in NJ <susang wrote: > I just got told by that I could not forward on something because I had exceeded my limit. Guest guest
Perhaps when you find out who this is and have the proof to forward to , you might also write to the moderators here *off list* at -owner so that we can determine how to proceed ourselves on an individual basis. It may be that there is more than one person involved in the 'escapade' we all experienced or witnessed recently on this list. I can tell you, speaking as an individual here, whoever it was has to fit two (2) criteria for them to be guilty of spoofing my address. If they don't fit for me, then I'll proceed no further. Please let me/us know - off list, as I say. Many many thanks. So very troubling to so many people. Guest guest
I am another one who has had limits put on my forwarding. I did report it to as you suggested.
