Guest guest
Hello, valued Vegetarian Spice members! I'm pleased to be able to let you know that your moderators have been working very hard to resolve the spoofing issues we've been hit with. I heard back today from the company that hosts/owns the Epicurious site, believe it or not, from a real person, on the phone! The issue is not a small one, and not related to our group alone, and is one that Epicurious is very concerned about. We are forwarding the information that we have to them, and the final result should be a fix that will stop this from happening again. They have been trying to sort out the how and who part of this, and fortunately, your moderators have kept that information, where other groups haven't. It should help sort out the IP address of the individual responsible. I am extremely pleased that Epicurious is so concerned about this issue - together we will get to the bottom of it. In the interim, the group remains on moderation so that you won't end up with, for example, 50 rabbit recipes from me. Trust me, I have a very upsetting rabbit story that I could tell from my childhood (probably where the root of my vegetarianism took hold) - and I was extremely upset that my id was spoofed for that particular recipe. We're on it, and it will be resolved. Thank you for your patience and understanding. Cathrineq Moderator Vegetarianspice
Guest guest
Thanks so very much Catherine, and all of you kind moderators! I'm so grateful to you all for this wonderful mailing list. Can you tell me what Epicurious has to do with this list? Do they sponsor it in some way? Thanks so much, Sherry in Oregon At 04:24 PM 10/18/2005, you wrote: >Hello, valued Vegetarian Spice members! Guest guest
Wonderful news. Thank you for doing all this. Hopefully they will be able to fix the way recipes get forwarded from epicurious.com so people with ill-intent can no longer harm this and other good vegetarian groups. ~ pt ~ I do not want the peace which passeth understanding, I want the understanding which bringeth peace. ~ Helen Keller (1880-1968) ~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~> , Cathrine Qua <cathrineq@r...> wrote: We are forwarding the information that we have to them, and the > final result should be a fix that will stop this from happening again. > They have been trying to sort out the how and who part of this, and > fortunately, your moderators have kept that information, where other > groups haven't. Guest guest
You guys are so awesome, and are making me feel really good right now! An update: I spoke with my technical contact at Epicurious again today (spoke with - can you believe it in the eworld?), and with the messages that I have forwarded her, she and her team of network analysts are working on a solution. They were meeting about it this afternoon. Epicurious really deserves a major pat on the back - I've NEVER seen a web site take so much interest in fixing a problem as they have. Way to go Epicurious! Again, our members deserve thanks for sticking around during these difficult and frustrating times. It just proves how wonderful you all are! Thanks again, everyone!
