Guest guest
You asked: > Can you tell me what Epicurious has to do with this list? Do they sponsor > it in some way? The answers are 'Nothing' and 'Absolutely Not'! What an idea LOL Let me make things a little clearer, or try to? Last week's spammer (over 150 messages on Tues. 11th) *spoofed* or hijacked my address and that of several members so it looked as if I, as list owner, and some of our most trusted members had suddenly taken leave of our senses and sent multiple copies of meat recipes. These recipes were sent via www.epicurious.com - from their webpage - an otherwise excellent food site. 's computer 'thought' that the messages came from the d members whose name had been placed upon them as 'sender'. Shortly thereafter, Cathrine offered her services to help Brandy, Maida and myself with moderation at this difficult time. A little later she took it upon herself to kindly contact the people at the Epicurious website to see if they could do anything about this spoofer- spammer. You have since read that she has been successful at speaking to someone there. That's a minor miracle, I think! Now may I, as list owner of VegetarianSpice, add my 2 cents' worth: Whether or not you, like me, reject the eating of meat, you would still not wish to be spammed. That's the bottom line. As for security, I put the policies in place last week and they will stay in place until such a time as I decide that they are no longer needed, no more and no less than that. Your peace of mind on this matter is important. To repeat, Epicurious has nothing to do with this list - but their site was used to spam messages that spoofed some of our addresses last week. And no, they do not sponsor us. I run a totally non-commercial, non-affiliated list, subject to no one but ourselves. kindly gives us free webspace of course. And on that note I should say I am awaiting a response from 'Abuse'. It may take some time <sigh> All best to you all, Pat (Owner, Vegetarian Spice)

But it is awfully confusing unless you're right in the thick of things, I have to say. Thanks for asking - I would think you were not the only person who was wondering ;=) Keep writing it - good to hear from you! luv, pat
