This is a great recipe reconstituting TVP. You can make tacos or add

to burritos or enchiladas.

This is from my Native Foods Cookbook, vegan restaurant is in West Los Angeles

" Tijuana Taco Meat "

1 cup TVP bits, granules or flakes

1 cup water

1/4 cup soy sauce (I use the low sodium )

2 Tblsn. olive oil

1 tsp. cumin powder

1 tsp. ground coriander

1/4 tsp. garlic powder

1/4 tsp. onion powder

1/4 tsp. crushed red chilies (optional) I'm a chicken and I used

them.

Place all ingredients in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Stir,

remove from flame, cover, and let sit 10 minutes.

This looks like a keeper! thanks hon.

Good sytem you have here - good for all those things - and so much less

expensive than

buying the ready-made stuff. Also, more individual - tastes more like *your*

cooking than

someone else's, right? :=)

I use a system similar to this for tvp chunks when I want to add to a stew - I

simmer in soy

sauce and stock and a bunch of flavours, drain em, squeeze em, saute em, then

stir them

into the near-finished stew. Just like mama used to make, only better.

Best love, Pat
