No, not particularly. And the best one here literally had no one that spoke

English when I was there. You had best know what you were ordering before you

did because there was no one there that could answer your questions, but it had

wonderful and different foods..more authentic. You didn't even get chips and

salsa. LOL But the last time I was there I was a vegetarian so it made it easier

to order as I was not quite as aware. Some of them aren't using lard anymore in

deference to health issues. That would be such an easy question though and I

would know that the answer was educated. I can also ask easily if a restaurant

is using a butter or margarine. We have a wonderful vegan restaurant here so I

can go there without being a private investigator. Much more relaxing. And we

have a place called YumYum that is very vegan aware and although not a big menu

it is also a good place to go. We have a deli with hot foods by a well known

chef that is also equipped with vegan foods. It is in a store, but one that

carries no dead carcasses of animals at all. But, we don't live in a large city

so not as much choice as in someplace like SF or LA. My next mission in life is

to go to various restaurants here and see if I can't persuade them to include a

vegan dish or two and to educate them as to what that means. And then

legitimately label it as such on their menu. I think that is important to people

that want to go vegan without having to change their entire life style.

And now, Linda, a query for you (and of course anyone else reading): You

mention

Mexican restaurants. Do you find that they are more suitable to your needs?

I'm always

worried about lard. And of course the cheese is a problem . . .

Best, Pat
