Guest guest
We've been chatting a bit about problems of finding veg*n food, especially if the waitperson has little or no knowledge of one's own language. Some personal thoughts: I don't expect everyone to be able to speak English (of course, I live in Canada and I also travel a bit overseas, so this is really is personal opinion stuff only) therefore I do find it helps to try to learn the needed phrases in the various languages so that I can communicate a tiny bit, even if the responses aren't always as clear to me LOL If I think my memory might fail, I write it down. If I don't know how to say it, I write it phonetically for my use only. All the usual gimmicks :=) But hey, we all know all this, right? And there's even a site you can go to that tells you how to say I Am Vegetarian in a zillion languages - and there are the translating dictionaries on the web so that you can copy down essential phrases (No meat, no meat stock, no gelatine, no milk, cheese or eggs or honey, etc.. It's much easier on the nerves and makes for greater enjoyment. I carry a small notebook. Other tips? Best love, Pat
