I don't remember where I got this recipe, it might have been from this

list, or from the local newspaper. Anyway, if you like spicy treats,

these are fabulous. They are sweet, and have the afterburn too. Yummy. I

made them for a party and everyone loved them, even the non-spice lovers.

Chocolate-Filled Aztec Cookies

1 roll (18 ounces) refrigerated sugar cookie dough

1/4 cup cornmeal

3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper or 1/4 teaspoon chili powder

20 dark chocolate candies (such as Hershey's Kisses Rich Dark)

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Break up cookie dough into a large bowl; let

sit 10 minutes to soften. Add cornmeal, cinnamon and cayenne or chili

powder; mix with hands to blend. Shape a rounded tablespoon of dough

around each chocolate candy, covering completely. Place 2 inches apart on

greased cookie sheets. Bake 11 to 13 minutes.

Makes 20 cookies.

Each year, 45 million turkeys are killed for Thanksgiving alone.Turkey

farms produce 10 billion pounds of manure, much of which ends up in our

rivers and drinking water. If Americans reduced their intake of meat by

10%, the grain saved could adequately feed 60 million people. No laws

protect turkeys from cruelty in slaughterhouses and factory farms.
